A Short Story Collection

Available Now on Amazon/Kindle

A year in the writing, this collection of short stories is a labour of love. A collaboration with my sister, AJ FitzRoy. Included are some stories inspired by famous authors like Ballard and Atwood, and a smattering of experimental flash fiction.

Let me know what you think. I already feel inspired to create a follow-up collection on the same subject of capitalism and climate change.

Front cover designed by JD FitzRoy

Consumption is a sharp and erudite selection of stories. Visions of futures ravaged by climate catastrophe, of people struggling under contemporary stresses, and of observations into the dominant political ideology of our time. Depictions of people in all walks of life, juggling with the ramifications of financial anxiety. And directly or indirectly ravaged by capitalism’s rapacious hunger for infinite profit.

Here, sibling authors A.J. and J.D. FitzRoy have united to showcase differing perspectives on a theme that affects us all. Stories deal with climate change, toxic lives, austerity economies, hyper-individualism, the corporate ladder, motherhood, and the work-life balance.

Spanning the important contemporary political, economic and social issues that shape our lives and the fate of our world, these stories encompass experimental, flash-fiction and dramatic narrative shorts. Inspirations range from J.G. Ballard to Virginia Woolf.

Compelling, complex and emotional, “Consumption” is a timely collection that will enthrall, captivate and provoke thought. As authors, we are pleased to take you on this journey through a subject dear to our hearts.
