Showcased here are some designs for a custom variant of the Dune Imperium board game by DireWolf. This is a game I have played recently and found fascinating in the polish of its gameplay, and depth of its themes. You can certainly play the game without knowing Frank Herbert’s seminal Dune saga, but knowing the story really brings the game to life.
The idea for this personal project began life as a means to create a 6-player alternative of the game with some additional game-play actions. This evolved into redesigning the game board and cards as well as incorporating the ‘RISE OF IX’ expansion into the main board. The project became a learning experience in the design and production of board game creation for future projects. Watch this space for exciting future developments!
I do not hold the copyright on photography and artwork (for example, publicity stills and concept images from Denis Villenurve’s 2021 film adaptation (Warner Bros. Pictures & Legendary Pictures), and artwork from the ‘Adventures in Dune Imperium’ RPG game (Modiphius Entertainment) used within but all the layout and formation was created for this project.
